WHAT IS AN ANTIOXIDANT?
Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent, such as parts of a cell. These reactions produce “free radicals,” which cause chain reactions that can damage or destroy a cell – and contribute to premature aging and disease progression in your pet. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals and thus help protect your pet from their harmful effects.
Pets (as well as humans and other animals) have the capability to reduce some of the effects of free radicals on their own, but this capability continuously weakens as they age.
